In commemoration of the Iyaniwura Children Care Foundation’s 10-year Anniversary in 2022 August, we opened a LIFE SKILLS CENTER for young adults with Intellectual, developmental, and neurological Disabilities.
The center accommodates 30 young adults aged 18-40 years in-house, mentoring them on various Social and soft Entrepreneurship skills.
Having a decent job is a dream for everyone, people with disabilities are not left out in this dream. When you consider the high unemployment rate for those without disabilities, it is no surprise that it is much worse for people with disabilities. the residents typically have a 20% – 40% IQ, hence can not attend regular schools and most are from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As part of our quest to develop humanity, the center is open and made available for this disadvantaged adult at no cost to achieve the following:
* Support with their livelihood and other skills relevant to their social and personal development.
* Support them to become self-reliant
* Gain education and ultimately contribute their quota to solving problems that negatively impact people with disabilities and change their perception of them.
The outcome of the project is to strengthen the job readiness for 30 young adults with intellectual disabilities annually which will be an advantage to the economy and social prospects of these individuals, family, and society at large.
