2022 Festival of Childhood tagged Children’s Conference:

“Growing a Better Tomorrow for all Children, Together”

In Nigeria today, we count on what matters and issues concerning children, children suffer violence, discrimination, and stigmatization including those with disabilities are denied, abused, and marginalized in the community ranging from health, education, social protection, participation, and general well being for their survival and development. it is important to respect the rights of children in our communities.

It has shown evidently that children are most vulnerable to being marginalized in society, their rights have always been violated. Children’s issues should be priorities in the community where they live, they are the bedrock of every society so issues concerning them should be paramount in our society.

The conferences hosted about 1000 participants from the 57 local governments in Lagos State, including LG chairmen, local leaders, technical experts, children, and young people to discuss innovative approaches to advance child rights through community commitment, Identify and exchange good practices. This will build a better friendship relationship among children and also foster respect in an inclusive environment.

The program is exclusively to address the 2007 Child Right Law of Lagos State as amended in 2015 and children’s issues, specific action for survival, protection, development, and participation in the areas of Child Health, Food & Nutrition, Basic Education, Justice, Welfare, Disability, Protection of Children during armed conflict, Drug/substance, Child Protection/Safeguarding, Child participation are been discussed.

The overall goal of the conference is to advance the rights and well-being of children and young people through local commitment and action to increase the importance of children in Lagos state and beyond to reach their goals.
